Songs that touch the heart

A recent song I very much like is "One" by U2 and Mary J. Blige. A nice "re-broadcast" of the song.

Now a different genre, beginning with ...

Seeing the first episodes of One Tree Hill (only saw 3 episodes yet ... I'm sooo going to beg Janneman for **legal episodes!) made me get to know Gavin DeGraw with the theme song: "I don't want to be" which struck me as terrific!

After exploring his songs I went to the online AOL sessions and there I finally saw the Dixie Chicks. I admit I couldn't put a face or a song on the Dixie Chicks but I already heard about them and the nasty boycot against them. The song on AOL was "Not Ready To Make Nice". Man. Whoa. Sorry Gavin, but you're history :) Seeing these "chicks" sing the song live ... with own acoustic guitar and a violin ... man, I had the shivers.

For now the Dixie Chicks are my favourite. Another great singer/songwriter from their genre is Alison Krauss. Some great songs from Alison & Union Station are: "Last Love Letter", "New Favourite", "It don't matter now" and "Take me for longing".

And now that we're going ... my father is a recent fan of Krista Detor and specifically of her song "Steal me a car". A song and a singer that's worth mentioning here too! And a friend with a gigantic music knowledge gave me CD of Christy Moore for the song "Viva La Quinta Brigada" and a CD with the song "A Couple More Years" by Ronnie Drew & Eleanor Shanley. That song is worth mentioning, too.

I'll leave it at that. Hope some of you find some nice new favourites amongst mine, especially if you're into country, folk, ...
